Privacy PolicyYour Data, Handled Plainly
What we collect when you shop or get in touch, why we need it, who we share it with, and how to see, change or delete it.
Last updated: August 2027
1. Who we are
Power Backup Supply is operated by Power Backup Supply LLC, based at Austin, Texas. We sell portable power stations, solar generators, solar panels and home backup equipment to customers in the United States through powerbackupsupply.com. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Power Backup Supply, and “you” means anyone who visits our site, contacts us or buys from us.
2. What we collect
We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what is generated automatically when you use the site, and what comes from the services that help us run the store.
| Category | Examples | When we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | Name, email address, phone number | When you place an order, use our contact form, message us on WhatsApp or live chat |
| Order information | Billing and shipping address, products purchased, order history | When you place an order |
| Payment information | Payment method, transaction reference, last four digits of a card | At checkout, provided to us by our payment processors |
| Messages | The content of enquiries, warranty claims and return requests | When you contact us by form, email, WhatsApp or chat |
| Technical data | IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring website | Automatically, when you visit the site |
| Cookie data | Cart contents, preferences, analytics identifiers | Automatically, subject to your cookie choices |
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information such as health details, government ID numbers or financial account numbers. Please do not send them to us, including in warranty or support messages.
3. How we use it
- To fulfil your order: process payment, arrange shipping, send order and tracking updates.
- To support you: answer questions, give sizing advice, handle warranty claims, returns and refunds.
- To run and improve the site: understand which pages are useful, fix problems and keep the store secure.
- To prevent fraud: verify transactions and protect you and us from misuse.
- To meet legal obligations: keep tax and accounting records and respond to lawful requests.
- To send marketing, only with your consent: you can unsubscribe from any marketing email at any time.
4. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them for three purposes:
- Essential cookies keep your cart, checkout and account working. The store cannot function without them.
- Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site, which pages help and which need work. We use Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats for this.
- Advertising and measurement cookies tell us whether our Google listings and ads lead to purchases. We use Google’s conversion measurement for this.
When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline non essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link on the site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the store, such as the cart, may stop working.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the store, and only what each one needs to do its job. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, MetaMask, TrustWallet, CashApp) | To take payment securely and prevent fraud |
| Shipping carriers and freight companies | To deliver your order and arrange delivery windows |
| Manufacturers | To process warranty claims on your behalf, sharing only the details a claim requires |
| Google (Analytics, Merchant Center, Ads) | Site analytics, product listings and measuring whether listings lead to purchases |
| Our hosting and email providers | To host the website and deliver order and support emails |
| WhatsApp (Meta) and SmartsUpp | To carry conversations you choose to start with us through those services |
| Legal and regulatory authorities | Only when required by law, or to protect our rights, customers or the public |
We do not sell your personal information. If the business is ever sold or merged, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who would remain bound by this policy.
6. Payments
Card and PayPal payments are handled entirely by our payment processors, which are certified to the industry’s PCI DSS security standard. We never see or store your full card number.
If you pay by bank transfer or Zelle, we receive the sender name and transaction reference your bank provides. If you pay in cryptocurrency, the sending wallet address and transaction are recorded on a public blockchain, which by its nature we cannot alter or delete.
7. How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: seven years, to meet tax and accounting requirements.
- Warranty records: for the length of the warranty, plus one year.
- Enquiries that did not lead to an order: two years, then deleted.
- Analytics data: according to the retention settings of the analytics provider, fourteen months by default.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
8. Your privacy rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, in a portable format.
- Correct anything that is inaccurate.
- Delete your information, except where we must keep it for legal reasons such as tax records.
- Opt out of targeted advertising and marketing emails.
California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, you have the rights above plus the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, our purposes and the categories of recipients, which are set out in sections 2 to 5 of this policy. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit.
Texas residents and other states
The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and similar laws in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and a growing number of other states, give you the rights listed above, plus the right to appeal if we decline your request. To appeal, reply to our decision with the word “Appeal” and we will respond within the time your state’s law requires. If we deny your appeal, you may contact your state Attorney General.
How to make a request
Email support@powerbackupsupply.com with the subject “Privacy request”, or use our contact form. To protect you, we verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming details of a past order from the email address on file. You may use an authorised agent, who will need your written permission. We respond within 45 days, and we will never charge you or treat you differently for exercising these rights.
9. Security
The whole site runs over encrypted HTTPS. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to serve you, and payment data never touches our systems. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
10. Children
Our store is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Emails from us
We send transactional emails you need, such as order confirmations, shipping updates, warranty correspondence and replies to your enquiries. Marketing emails are only sent if you have agreed to receive them, and every one includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop order related emails.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and if a change materially affects how we use your information, we will make that clear on the site or by email before it takes effect.
Visitors from outside the United States should know that we operate from the US and your information is processed here.
This policy should be read alongside our Shipping Information, Returns and Refunds and Warranty pages. Nothing in it limits any right you have under applicable federal or state law.
